The Marketplace partners with Make-A-Wish Foundation for CSR Initiatives.

Jul 1 2020

The Marketplace, in support of the mission of Make-A-Wish Foundation Philippines, has helped grant life-changing wishes of children with critical illnesses. In partnership with the Foundation, the company has shared hope, strength, and transformation to children who need it the most through their various initiatives.

Through Make-A-Wish Philippines, The Marketplace has donated wheelchairs to pediatric patients from Philippine General Hospital, Philippine Children’s Hospital, National Children’s Hospital, Bahay Aruga and Bahay Silungan in 2018.

Last year, the company’s employees surprised 15 wish kids with a fun trip to Ocean Park and given them loot bags containing food and other gifts.

This year, as Make-A-Wish celebrates its 20th year in the country and 40th year since its founding in Arizona, The Marketplace continues to support its cause with three fundraising campaigns to give joy to more children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Another campaign that runs during The Marketplace’s Snack Festival Promo from June 24 to July 31 aims to donate healthy food packs to 27 wish kids.

From August 1 to 31, Php10 will be donated to Make-A-Wish for every Healthy Is Beautiful Care Kit sold by The Marketplace stores. Each care kit consists of five pieces of face masks, 10 pieces of vitamins, mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrush, tissue paper, spray to go and disinfectant. Proceeds will be used for ten tablets to be given to select wish kids.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has postponed wishes, the Foundation is grateful for partners like The Marketplace who continues to support their mission of transforming lives, one wish at a time.

About Make-A-Wish® Philippines

Make-A-Wish Philippines is the first and only non-profit wish-granting foundation in the country and an affiliate of Make-A-Wish® International, the largest wish-granting organization in the world. The Foundation grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses to transform their lives with hope, strength and joy.

When children are battling a critical illness, so much of normal childhood is taken away from them — it is exhausting, both emotionally and physically. A wish is something that gives children the opportunity to look outside their illness — it restores a sense of childhood back to the child and normalcy back to the family. Research shows, and physicians agree, that wishes can help improve a child's quality of life and produce better health outcomes.

Since 2000, Make-A-Wish Philippines has granted over 3,500 life-changing wishes in the country.
